After a varied background in PR, marketing and farming, Kate Brew found her calling when she began working as an administrator for a funeral director in Braintree.
The married mother-of-two embraced her role, taking the opportunity to train with the Independent Funeral Directors College, achieving her Certificate in Funeral Practice. Kate is still a member of the College today and believes in constantly learning and growing her skills and knowledge.
Climbing the career ladder to assistant manager and then funeral manager, Kate put her PR background to good use, building strong links with local groups, organisations, hospitals and hospices.
Kate said: “I have helped many families to organise their loved ones’ funerals, from small gatherings to large high profile funerals. I have conducted funerals in all denominations of churches, cathedrals, village halls, crematorium chapels, here at The Essex Barn and most recently at The Barn Theatre in Little Easton.
“My families will always be able to trust me to take care of their loved ones and to ensure all the funeral arrangements are carried out professionally and with dignity. I spend a great deal of time listening to my families’ wishes to create the funeral service best suited for them. I assure them I am here to help, guide and advise them and not to dictate, take over or insist on ‘must-have’.
“It is very important to me that families are fully supported throughout their journey and before, during and after a funeral.”
